Jinying (Nick) Zhan is a Chinese attorney licensed to practice law in China. He is also licensed to practice China law as a Foreign Legal Consultant in State of Iowa, United States.

Nick was a former district judge in Xiamen, China. With years’ experience in court rooms, he is very familiar with court rules and judicial practice for both civil and criminal proceedings. Through his working experience as a district judge, he has deep understanding of entangled connections between Chinese government and judicial system. Nick’s experience in litigation matters includes providing constructive and sophisticated dispute resolutions and litigation strategies, protecting and defending his clients’ interest. His experience in courtroom practice helps him receive high winning rate for litigation matters that he has participated in, whether in China and in the U.S.

Nick started his private practice in Guangzhou since 2002. In addition to his tremendous experience in dispute resolution area, his primary practice interest focuses on foreign direct investment (FDI), merger & acquisition (M&A), financing and Insurance, corporate governance, international business transactions, international trade, fair competition…Nick is a detail-minded legal practitioner that can carry his legal knowledge and business experience into tiny legal issues that could impact the outcome of clients’ litigation cases, business planning, operation, and risk management. His experience in IT technology, international trade, business management, world view of globalization and geopolitics, international education background, helps him bring out his eastern wisdom to his professional career. Over the years, he has successfully helped his clients in many cases by providing sophisticated and practical solutions to get into China market, solve legal issues, and facilitate the transactions. His international clients include those from U.S., Russia, Netherlands, Australia, Canada, Latvia, Singapore, Hong Kong. The industries that Nick has served for include banking and insurance, infrastructure, manufacturing, entertainment, sports, trading, IT, and many others.

After licensure by the Iowa Supreme Court in 2016, Nick started his China law practice in the United States. His knowledge about international law, comparative law, practice experience in Chinese judicial system, working history and business management experience with U.S. private companies, are best assets for his clients in terms of cross-border transactions between China and the U.S.

Nick has permanent residential status and has lived in U.S. since 2008. He actively attends international events organized in the community, participates in cultural exchange programs and discussions. This helps him to gain more understanding where the issues exist in cross-border transactions from cultural, geopolitical, business, and legal perspective. He carries on conversation well with people from different culture and religious backgrounds.

Nick is an active promoter for China-US judicial exchange program. He believes a comparative view on judicial traditions and practices from different jurisdictions is very important for international business. It allows filling the knowledge gap in understanding how differentiated values are adopted and used by different countries or jurisdictions. Such knowledge, helps professionals provide the right solutions to the right circumstances. 詹金应律师是一名持中国执业牌照的中国执业律师。其在中国的执业资历由爱荷华州高等法院认可并予颁发外国法律顾问执照以在美国提供中国法的法律服务。
